US Navy Visit

23rd February 2012

Twenty Sailors and Marines from the US Navy visited the center on 23rd February 2012 and spent a morning at the center. Some accompanied the students to the local supermarket as part of the student's activities for that day. A brief presentation about Autism and the center was given prior to their time in the classrooms to prepare them for their encounter with the students. This is what some sailors and marines said about their visit.

My experience visiting Dubai Autism Center was different from that of visiting other organizations which specialize in caring for children with special needs because you took the time to teach me something about autism, it made me aware of the difficulties children and their parents face on a daily basis, and it helped me learn how to interact with the children." RP1 Maila Castillo, United States Navy

I think the Dubai Autism Center created a great atmosphere for the kids and it gave them a wonderful environment in which to learn and play it really gives them the opportunity to be children. Thank you so much for the experience, and Im sure if given the chance I will be more than happy to come visit again! OS3 Yesenia Couberly, United States Navy

Seeing the significant need for specialized care for children with Autism, particularly children with severe Autism, and seeing the terrific job the Center does in treating those children made for a rewarding experience for the Sailors and Marines involved and brought home the importance of supporting the Center and other places like it. 1st Lt Brendan Reilly, United States Marine Corps

I wanted to take the time to thank you for the chance to visit your center. Overall it was a great experience and I hope the kids had as much fun as I did working with them. I was very impressed with the staff and learned quite a bit in just my brief time there. IT3 Mark Alminde, United States Navy

The Dubai Autism Center has hosted the US Navy on many occasions and their involvement with the center has become well established. See you next time you are in Dubai.
