Seventh annual awareness campaign on autism kicks off
Dubai, April 1, 2013:
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Moktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the seventh annual autism awareness campaign will be launched tomorrow (2nd April) in line with the World Autism Awareness Day under the slogan "Discover what fascinates a child with autism".
The campaign is organized by the Dubai Autism Centre (DAC) throughout the month, includes events aimed at increasing public awareness and promoting a better understanding about autism and its impact on families.
Each year, the campaign has a different issue to highlight on autism. This year, the campaign will focus on the special talents of individuals with autism and how discovering the specific learning styles and the strength of each individual can release their potentials.
Activities will be conducted in malls and seminars will be held at social clubs, parents' associations and institutions to share knowledge. Experts will be providing answers to queries by the community.
Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General and Board Member of DAC said: “we have to understand the nature of autism, and know that each individual with autism has a talent,”
