Going all out for the sixth annual autism awareness campaign
Dubai, March 31st, 2012:
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Moktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Autism Center, the Dubai's sixth annual autism awareness campaign will be launched on the 2nd of April in line with the World Autism Awareness Day under the slogan "accept, embrace and empower". The campaign is organized by the Dubai Autism Center for the whole month of April and will be supported by print and Audio/video media as well as outdoors.
Each Awareness campaign highlights the most persistent issue. Throughout the month Dubai Autism Center conducts events aiming to increase public awareness and promoting a better understanding about autism and its impact on families. This year the campaign will focus on the role of the parents and the society in accepting individuals with autism, embracing their cause and empowering their unique skills.
This year activities includes presence in malls and seminars to be held at social clubs, parents associations and institutions to share professional knowledge and provide expert answers to the community's questions.
Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General and Board Member of DAC said: “When a child is diagnosed with Autism the parents go into shock. They might take a long time to accept the diagnosis and start taking positive actions. It is important for us to acknowledge their feelings and try to direct them to seek help for themselves and their child with Autism.”
